What do you get when you combine the new Dell Latitude E6410 with a semi-rugged frame? Obviously this ATG model. Yes, I know, lame joke, but I don't have time to come up with a cleverer intro, so get busy.
The Latitude E6410 ATG is basically that. It has the same Core i5 and Core i7 options, the same hard drives available, the same RAM, the same webcam and the same WXGA screen as the non-GI Joe model. The only options it doesn't seem to have are the discrete NVIDIA graphics and the optional WXGA+ screen. This model even comes with Dell's Latitude ON instant on OS. So yes, this model is just like the standard version.
But this tough guy has been certified to military standard 810G for shock, vibration, temperature, humidity and altitude - and it looks the part. Inside is Dell's tri-metal chassis, a responsive free-fall sensor on the hard drive, and a reinforced display for extra security.
The base model Core i5 with 1GB RAM costs $2,114. However, if you have a corporate credit card handy, you can easily select one that has a Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, mobile broadband, and a Blu-ray Includes drive for just under $5,000. This one will have to wait a bit, although Dell is now taking orders. The product page says it won't be available until 4/23. ships, so you'll have plenty of time to find an excuse for spending your boss' slush fund on a semi-rugged notebook.
