Dell I15-156B

A decent netbook configuration with an Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP, and a big enough hard drive costs about $499, or the same as this basic 15-inch Dell Inspiron I15-156B laptop sized and Portability gets you a dual-core Intel CPU (but no official Core 2 Duo), 3GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Windows Vista, and something alien for netbook users - a DVD burner. For another US$150 Dollars you can swap for Dell's similar Inspiron I15-157B, which doubles the HDD and has a faster Core 2 Duo T6400 CPU. At under $500, the Dell Inspiron I15-156B offers few frills but is about as cheap as a dual-core laptop.50, performance 80, display 80 single test, available online, medium, as of 05/02/2009

This retail version of Dell's base 15-inch Inspiron, the I15-157B, is a textbook mainstream budget computer, but it lacks some of the extras you'll find in other similarly priced laptops.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD
: Onboard (shared memory) GPU in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset (Montevina). Significantly faster than the old GMA X3100 thanks to two more shaders and a higher core clock. Still not recommended for gamers (not DirectX 10 games or only playable with very low settings). The integrated video processor is capable of decoding HD videos (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2), eg for smooth Blu-Ray playback with slow CPUs.
Only some 3D games with very low requirements are playable with these cards.

Intel Core 2 Duo
: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. Complementing the Core Duo design is a fourth decoder, a reinforced SSE unit and an additional arithmetic logic unit (ALUMINIUM).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors, but the notebook processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 volts) and a lower front side bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). Performance The same clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than desktop PCs due to the lower frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.
T6400
: Entry-level dual-core processor based on the Penryn core with only 2 MB level 2 cache and low clock speed.»You can find more information in our
