the
Lenovo G50-80
is an affordable laptop with a full-size 15.6-inch display, full-size keyboard, DVD drive and good everyday performance.
Intel's latest "Broadwell"
processors
are the heart of this streamlined looking machine with pronounced angles, made of high quality plastic with a brushed metal-like finish on the keyboard deck. The design has not changed compared to the previous G50-70 with older "Haswell" Intel CPUs. Customers can choose between the entry-level Intel Celeron 3205U, the mid-range Core i3-5005U or i5-5200U, or the high-end i7-5500U "Broadwell" chip. The Celeron is only suitable for basic computing power, the i3 and i5 offer enough speed for impeccable day-to-day work and multimedia entertainment, while the i7 provides an extra boost for advanced users engaged in photo editing, movie making and similar tasks. If you're into gaming, you should avoid the Celeron, which boasts the underperforming onboard Intel HD graphics features. The
IntelHD5500
integrated into i3, i5 and i7 is much better, but it's still not a gaming grade GPU.
For a better movie experience, more space on your desktop and in programs, and an overall sharper picture, Lenovo offers the G50-80 with Full HD 1920×1080 resolution. The standard resolution of the laptop is 1366 x 768 pixels. Touch screen input is not supported and IPS -Wide-angle technology is missing from the G50-80.
You can interact with the Windows operating system and apps using the laptop's spacious keyboard with ergonomically designed keys and number pad, as well as the multi-touch trackpad with dedicated physical buttons for left and right clicks.
The system's main storage options are modest, but still big enough for seamless multitasking. You can choose between models with 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM. Storage options include a 500 GB or double-sized 1 TB hard drive. They offer plenty of space, though , but are bogged down by the usual but slow 5,400 rpm. Hard drive performance is usually a bottleneck of modern notebooks with HDDs, so it's recommended to buy a laptop with a solid state drive or upgrade HDDs to SSDs and the user experience will be significantly improved We applaud Lenovo for making RAM and storage upgrades a breeze. That's why the manufacturer included an easily removable component cover on the underside of the chassis. While it's not directly mentioned on the G50-80's product pages, it does mention it User manual that the device has two RAM slots, so you can use two 8 GB modules up to 16 GB of RAM can install.
As already mentioned, the Lenovo G50-80 has an integrated DVD drive. Rounding out the amazing feature set of the G50-80 are stereo speakers with Dolby audio technology, a 720p web camera, 802.11AC Wi-Fi wireless, Ethernet LAN network port , Bluetooth, HDMI output for connection to HDTVs and monitors, three USB ports, a card reader and a combo audio headphone-out/microphone-in jack.
Lenovo states that the G50-80's battery life is up to four hours, but it varies noticeably depending on the processor and screen resolution you choose, with the lower-end models consuming less power.
The weight of the notebook is 5.5 pounds, which is slightly heavier than average for the 15.6-inch category.
