Like many people, I use my notebook primarily as a "desktop" computer. It usually sits on my desk next to an external monitor 90% of the time. The only problem was that the notebook's screen sat a few inches below the external monitor.
To solve this I ordered this

, and after putting a few pieces together, it really improved my desktop experience.
Raising the screen to be closer to eye level
More space created on the desktop because the notebook keyboard is now at an angle
Provides better airflow under the laptop for improved cooling.
Now that I have this setup I wish I had done it a long time ago! Much improved. I highly recommend anyone who uses their laptop primarily on their desk to use a stand like this.
Even if you often carry your laptop around with you, removing it and putting it back on the stand is no problem anyway.
Another bonus is that I can set papers on the notebook's keyboard so I can easily access the material as I work.
